JohnJohn’s planned European racing campaign with Ward Racing will be temporarily delayed following a wrist injury sustained during last weekend’s Champions of the Future America Rd. 1 event.

During Friday practice, another driver spun directly in front of JohnJohn, leaving him with nowhere to go and resulting in a hard impact with the wall. Despite the injury, JohnJohn showed remarkable determination by returning to the track and competing throughout the remainder of the weekend.

Following a medical evaluation on Monday, X-rays confirmed that JohnJohn suffered a broken wrist in the incident.

What makes the diagnosis even more remarkable is that JohnJohn completed the entire event while injured, battling through the pain to secure a Top 10 overall finish in a field of 43 drivers. His weekend included a strong qualifying performance, multiple front-running heat races, a charge from ninth to third in Heat 2, and an eighth-place finish in the Final.

As a result of the injury, JohnJohn’s scheduled trip to Italy to compete with Ward Racing in WSK Euro Series Round 1 has been postponed while he focuses on recovery. While missing the opening round is disappointing, the priority is ensuring a full recovery so he can return to competition at 100 percent and continue pursuing his European racing goals.

“We are incredibly proud of the toughness, focus, and determination JohnJohn displayed throughout the weekend,” said the Close Action Racing team. “Competing at this level with a broken wrist says a lot about his character. While this injury delays our European plans, it does not change our goals.”

We would like to thank our team, coaches, sponsors, partners, and supporters for their continued encouragement and support during this setback.

The road to Europe is delayed—not denied.
