Strong Pace and Consistent Progress Across Back-to-Back Weekends in Italy
April 25, 2026
Cremona, Italy | OK-N Junior | 76 Drivers
Following his debut appearance in the WSK Euro Series at South Garda Karting, JohnJohn McLellan remained in Italy for Round 1 of the 2026 ACI Karting Italian Championship, taking on another elite OK-N Junior field featuring 76 drivers from across Europe.
Now becoming known throughout the paddock as “J-Mac,” McLellan continued to demonstrate impressive speed and adaptability during his European campaign. Competing against one of the deepest grids in international karting, he gained positions in every qualifying heat while consistently running at a top-ten pace.
Starting P15 in both Heat B-C and Heat B-D, J-Mac advanced to P9 in each race, gaining six positions on both occasions. Additional heats produced gains of seven and five positions, resulting in finishes of P9, P9, P8, and P11.
The pace was further confirmed when McLellan recorded the fastest lap of the race in Heat 2, underlining his ability to match the speed of the front-runners throughout the weekend.
Across four qualifying heats, J-Mac gained a combined 24 positions, showcasing strong racecraft, decisive overtaking, and consistent forward progression against one of Europe’s most competitive junior karting fields.
The final results did not reflect the performance demonstrated throughout the weekend. After gaining positions in every qualifying heat and recording the fastest lap in Heat 2, a setback before the start of the Pre-Final prevented JohnJohn from taking the green flag, while opening-lap contact in the Final ended any opportunity to convert that pace into a representative result.
Despite the outcome, the weekend reinforced McLellan’s ability to compete with the front half of one of Europe’s strongest OK-N Junior fields. Consistent position gains, fastest-lap speed, and competitive race pace throughout the event highlighted a driver continuing to establish himself on the international stage.
